A & A Rachmat Foundation

Visi

To become a service organization that supports community empowerment through education, health services, and social welfare.

Misi

  • To develop the availability and accessibility of educational opportunities for students in need.
  • To provide affordable health care services to underprivileged communities.
  • To support social welfare development projects.

In August 1999, the Rachmat family established a charitable foundation called Self-Learning Indonesian Foundation (IJARI), which focuses on providing scholarships to students at Bogor Agricultural University or Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) and Dharma University Yogyakarta. To date, there are more than 9,800 students from various colleges and academies across Indonesia who have benefited from this scholarship program.

Along with the formulation of its vision and mission, in May 2007, the Rachmat family decided to rename the foundation as the A&A Rachmat Compassionate Service Foundation. The Rachmat family directed the organization to focus its activities on health and other social issues.

Education

Scholarships
This program aims to provide opportunities for young generations to achieve their best potential through education. Scholarships are awarded to students from underprivileged families who have demonstrated good academic performance. These scholarships are distributed through universities under the coordination of scholarship supervisors at each university. Since the academic year 2002–2003, Yayasan Pelayanan Kasih A & A Rachmat has provided scholarships to more than 25,000 students across Indonesia.

Training for Teachers
Every year, Yayasan Pelayanan Kasih A & A Rachmat organizes Mind Mapping training for elementary school teachers in various regions in Indonesia. With this program, it is expected to improve teachers' ability to teach, not only to be more effective and efficient but also to be more interesting so that students can learn more quickly and thoroughly and have high enthusiasm.

Health Service Activity

Health Clinic
To provide affordable healthcare services for all levels of society, medical clinics (balai pengobatan) were established in December 2005, offering accessible fees ranging from IDR 5,000 to IDR 20,000 per visit (including doctor consultation and medication), depending on the type of treatment. Over time, the network has expanded to more than 30 clinics located across various provinces throughout Indonesia (Sumatra, Jabodetabek, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Bali, NTT, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua). To date, these clinics have served over 2 million patients, providing better and more affordable healthcare access to the wider community.

Glasses
We believe that good vision is key to improving quality of life and productivity. Therefore, a free eyeglasses distribution program is organized as an initiative to help those who need access to proper vision aids. Eye health check-ups and free eyeglasses distribution are provided regularly to elementary school students and teachers. In addition, this program is also given to children in orphanages. Since 2008, Yayasan Pelayanan Kasih A & A Rachmat has provided more than 20,000 free eyeglasses to those in need.

Social Welfare Activities

Donation for Orphanage
The owner of Yayasan Pelayanan Kasih A & A Rachmat has an aspiration for this foundation to become a protector for orphans. Through this program, we hope to help ease the burden of orphanages while providing happiness and new hope for the children. Therefore, Yayasan Pelayanan Kasih A & A Rachmat regularly provides assistance to more than 7,000 orphans across several orphanages throughout Indonesia, particularly in Eastern Indonesia. The assistance is intended to support their living needs, such as food, education, and other necessities.
